An early 19th Century portrait (of good proportions) of a young woman wearing an Edwardian feather hat. Oil on canvas frame only (no picture frame) - regret I can't find a signature.
I purchased this painting over 20 years ago from a Bonhams fine art sale in London.
The painting is in good order, no tears to the canvas however there is a stain on the back of the canvas which looks like it might have caused the oil paint to craqueleure on the front - suffice to say the paint is not flaking off and appears quiet stable and was purchased in this condition.
The back of the canvas is stamped G Rowney & Co London 'A' quality - described in their trade catalogue as ...'a very strong heavy cloth with a marked tooth or grain'.
