The Painted Room specialises in reviving classic French and English vintage fabric designs from the early 19th century through to the mid 20th century.
Designs are printed on pure linen and are suitable for curtains, blinds, soft furnishings and light/occasional upholstery.
Linen is made from the fibre of the flax plant and as flax is a very sustainable crop it requires little in the way of fertilisation, further more the flax seed is used for both food and in the production of flaxseed oil (linseed oil).
The finest fibres are used in the production of linen and paper while the coarser fibres are used to produce twine and rope.
Linen is also hypo-allergenic, making it an excellent choice for people who suffer from allergies.
All fabric designs are currently printed on an ivory linen base cloth.
Ivory provides a soft neutral hue, which carries some of the pureness, softness and cleanliness of white but is slightly richer and warmer in tone.
All printed designs are dry clean only.
Also available from The Painted Room are some select items of decorative vintage furniture, bespoke soft furnishings and gifts made from The Painted Room’s own printed linen designs.
