This is a divine antique/vintage French ciel de lit / bed couronne or bed canopy frame dating from the late 1800's - early 1900's.
Painted in a lovely soft off white/creamy paint this canopy would have been hung above a bed to create a decorative centre piece from which to hang elegant swagged drapes.
Made from solid wood it has a wonderful carved rococo shell crest to the front. The wooden frame would originally have had either a central board or eyelets let into the sides in order to attach the drapes.
Excellent vintage condition - some chips and dings commensurate with age and usage.
